It was gathered that the suspect invited his girlfriend to his residence in the Surulere community in the Camp area of the city on Friday and served her a mixture of brownie cakes, alcohol, and an unknown harmful substance.

Odumosu Semilore, who had followed her friend Ugbokwe Mmasichukwu to her boyfriend’s house, also became a victim of poisoning after consuming the mixture.

The victims, who lost consciousness after ingesting the mixture, were immediately rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The motive behind the suspect’s actions of food poisoning remains unclear; however, upon preliminary investigations, it was discovered that Ayomide had ill intentions towards the victims, with the intent to harm them.

The Chief Security Officer of the Federal College of Education, Osiele Abeokuta, Olusola Ajibola, who directed the officers to arrest the suspect, confirmed to the police that Mmasichukwu and Semilore were students of the institution, while Ayomide was a final-year student of FUNAAB.

She further revealed that ongoing investigations would uncover the circumstances behind the incident and urged the students to remain calm.

She also advised the students to be careful of their association and not move with the wrong crowd.
