Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) Chairman, Olalekan Ifede, has appointed five zonal education secretaries to address vacancies arising from the elevation of certain secretaries to the roles of principals and vice principals in secondary schools.

News About Nigeria gathered that the swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the TESCOM conference room in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, underscores the importance of enhancing management capacity and ensuring balanced representation in each zone of the state.

Chairman Ifede charged the newly appointed secretaries to be diligent and consider themselves as the commission’s representatives in their respective zones.

He emphasized that zonal offices function as extensions of the chairman’s office within the zones.

The secretaries’ responsibilities include overseeing all schools in their designated zones and providing the commission with regular updates on school activities.

“By our assessment, we find the appointees fit for the job. Their duty is to oversee all schools within their designated zones and furnish the commission with updated reports on schools monthly, among others.

“They are encouraged to relate closely with the old Zonal Secretaries so they can get well acquainted with the job requirements,” he said.

Mr. Habeeb Abdullah, speaking on behalf of the newly appointed secretaries, expressed gratitude to the commission for the opportunity to serve.

He assured that they would fulfil their duties in line with the requirements of their positions, contributing to the improvement of educational activities in various zones across the state.

Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, urged the new secretaries to conduct themselves professionally and diligently discharge their responsibilities to advance the state’s education sector.
