The Ogun State government has announced its commitment to taking control of the construction of the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta express road from the Federal Government, with ambitious plans to convert it into a world-class highway.

News About Nigeria gathered that for years, the condition of this road, which stretches across Lagos and Ogun states, has been deplorable, leading to immense hardships for motorists, particularly Ogun State residents.

The relentless efforts of Governor Abiodun have finally borne fruit, with the Federal Government granting approval for the Ogun State government to undertake the reconstruction of this dilapidated road and implement a toll system.

Speaking on the recent development, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, revealed that the Federal Government has granted permission for the construction of federal roads, and such requests receive approval within 24 hours.

However, there are conditions to be met, which include adhering to the Federal Ministry of Works standard designs.

In response to this significant development, the Ogun State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, expressed appreciation for the Federal Government’s gesture and commended Governor Abiodun for his unwavering dedication to securing this approval.

The commissioner emphasised that the state is fully prepared to assume responsibility for the project, putting an end to the protracted suffering endured by its residents due to the road’s poor condition.
