A tragic incident occurred in the Ago Palace Way area of Isolo, Lagos, on Tuesday when a scuffle involving officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), a police officer, and a driver led to the loss of lives, News About Nigeria gathered.

The police spokesperson in Lagos, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that two individuals lost their lives.

Among the deceased were a pregnant woman and a tricycle driver, according to Hundeyin.

According to Premium Times, eyewitnesses at the scene disagreed with the official account, claiming that four people had died as a result of the scuffle.

Witnesses described a situation in which one of the law enforcement officers was engaged in a struggle for control of the steering wheel with the alleged traffic offender.

This struggle ultimately led to the driver losing control of the vehicle, resulting in a tragic accident.

Usman, one of the eyewitnesses, recounted, “The LASTMA officials chased the driver. One of the law enforcement officers was dragging the steering wheel with the driver, and in the course of that, the driver lost control and rammed into some passersby. About four people died.”

Another witness stated that those killed in the incident included a pregnant woman and two children.

The witness explained, “The traffic offender and the police were struggling for the steering wheel. They both lost control of the car, which ran into school children aged four and six who were being picked up from their home to school by a tricycle (Keke) rider.”
