Senator Elisha Abbo, along with Nollywood stars Tonto Dikeh and Iyabo Ojo, paid a visit to the family of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba.

News About Nigeria gathered that the visit took place in the Lekki area of Lagos State on Thursday, following questions and concerns about the circumstances of Mohbad’s passing.

During the visit, Senator Abbo assured Mohbad’s mother of protection and pledged to investigate the circumstances surrounding her son’s death.

Senator Abbo, who is also the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Entertainment Economy, expressed his commitment to spearheading the establishment of a Creative Economy Commission.

The Creative Economy Commission aims to address conflicts within the creative industry, including disputes related to record labels and artiste contracts.

It also seeks to prevent situations where individuals resort to self-help.

The visit by Senator Abbo and the Nollywood stars is part of the growing calls for justice for Mohbad, with many Nigerians demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Protests have taken place in various cities across the country, with young people calling on authorities to investigate and hold accountable anyone responsible for the singer’s demise.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, had previously ordered a comprehensive investigation into Mohbad’s death, emphasising the need for a swift and thorough probe.

Also, the Lagos State Police Command has exhumed the corpse of late singer, Mohbad for autopsy.

News About Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed the development via his X handle on Thursday.

Hundeyin wrote: “Exhumation completed. Autopsy to commence. #JusticeForMohad #Justice4Mohbad.”
