The Lagos State Police Command has taken a significant step in investigating the sudden death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

A 13-member Special Investigation Panel has been inaugurated for this purpose, as revealed by Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, on Monday, News About Nigeria reports.

The move comes in response to the tragic passing of the 27-year-old Mohbad, a former signee of the Marlian Records label.

He passed away last Tuesday and was laid to rest the following day in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Commissioner Owohunwa emphasised the commitment of the Lagos State Police Command to uncover the truth behind Mohbad’s untimely death.

He also noted that the police have unique access to INTERPOL, which will aid in identifying and bringing to justice anyone linked to the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s demise.

In the wake of Mohbad’s death, his former record label boss and fellow musician, Naira Marley, expressed his grief and condolences.

In a statement shared on his Instagram handle, Naira Marley described Mohbad as more than just an artiste or signee but a brother and dear friend.

He praised Mohbad’s music for bringing love and light to many people, expressing the profound impact the late singer had on the label.

It’s worth noting that over 250,000 Nigerians have signed a petition seeking justice for Mohbad, alleging that he suffered abuse and violence that may have contributed to his death.
