A 20-year-old woman, Blessing Ben, has been arrested in Adamawa State, Nigeria, for the alleged killing and disposal of her newborn baby’s body in a dustbin.

Her boyfriend, Luka Iliyasu, has also been apprehended and is currently being questioned by the Adamawa State Police Command.

According to information gathered by News About Nigeria, Blessing, a resident of Jambutu in Yola North Local Government Area, was impregnated by Luka, who happens to reside in the Police Barracks in Yola.

The couple had been in a relationship for approximately two years.

Blessing reportedly gave birth to her baby on Saturday, July 8.

However, she stands accused of killing the infant and discarding the remains in a dustbin within their compound.

During interrogation, Blessing denied intentionally causing the baby’s death.

She claimed that she delivered the baby herself and that the child was born lifeless, leaving her with no other option but to dispose of the body in a dustbin.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, stated that Blessing asserted she had been living with her aunt, who was unaware of her pregnancy until she gave birth.

According to Blessing, her aunt was out of town when she delivered the baby. After discovering that the newborn was dead, she allegedly kept the corpse for two days before disposing of it.

Both Blessing and her boyfriend are currently in police custody as investigations continue. The police aim to gather all relevant details surrounding the incident.

The case has sparked concern and raised questions about the circumstances leading to the death of the newborn.
