President Bola Tinubu has expanded his team by appointing 20 new aides, adding to the recent wave of significant appointments made just weeks ago, News About Nigeria reports.
The latest roster includes senior special assistants (SSAs), personal assistants (PAs), personal physicians, and photographers.
Among the prominent names featured in the list as seen by NEWS ABOUT NIGERIA is Tunde Rahman, a seasoned journalist who has been assigned the role of SSA (Media); Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, appointed as SSA (Print Media); and Ibrahim Masari, designated SSA (Political Matters).
Noteworthy additions include Adekunle Tinubu as the Personal Physician to President Tinubu, Damilotun Aderemi as the Senior Special Assistant (Private Secretary), Toyin Subair as the Senior Special Assistant (Domestic), and O’tega Ogra as the Senior Special Assistant (Digital/New Media).
The team also welcomes Demola Oshodi as the Senior Special Assistant (Protocol), Tope Ajayi as the Senior Special Assistant (Media & Public Affairs), and Yetunde Sekoni and Motunrayo Jinadu as Senior Special Assistants, among others.
Also joining the fold are Segun Dada, appointed as Special Assistant (Social Media), and Paul Adekanye, taking on the role of Special Assistant (Logistics).
The team further includes Friday Soton as Special Assistant (Housekeeping), Shitta-Bey Akande as Special Assistant (Catering), Nosa Asemota as Special Assistant (Visual Communication) and Personal Photographer, Kamal Yusuf as Personal Assistant (Special Duties), Wale Fadairo as Personal Assistant (General Duties), Sunday Moses as Personal Assistant (Videography), and Taiwo Okanlawon as Personal Assistant (State Photographer).
Tunde Rahman, who previously served as both media aide and chief of staff to President Tinubu, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
A native of Iwo in Osun State, Rahman’s journalistic journey includes significant positions at the Daily Times, Punch newspaper (where he led the Abuja bureau and later served as group news editor), and ThisDay newspaper (including an editorial stint as editor of the Sunday paper). Notably, Rahman recently completed an MBA from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.
Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, hailing from Kano State, has a commendable background in media, having worked with reputable outlets such as Leadership, Blueprint, Premium Times, and most recently, Daily Trust.
He previously served as a media aide to former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, who now holds the position of national security adviser.
Temitope Ajayi, an expert in public relations and a writer, played a pivotal role in the Tinubu campaign and has a long-standing association with the Tinubu Media Office.
Ajayi’s affiliations extend to the Western Post newspaper, owned by Tunde Rahman. With academic qualifications from the Lagos Business School and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ajayi brings a diverse skill set to his appointment.
Ibrahim Masari, a native of Katsina State, served as President Tinubu’s running mate before Vice President Kashim Shettima assumed the role of the party’s substantive vice presidential candidate for the 25 February election.
O’tega Ogra, previously the head of corporate communication at the BUA Group, is recognized as a high achiever in the nation’s corporate communication sector.
Holding an esteemed position as an alumnus of Babcock University, Ogra contributed his expertise at GTBank as corporate communications manager and at Wema Bank as head of brand management and the corporate communications and digital marketing unit.
These latest appointments mark the third major round of staffing decisions made by President Tinubu since assuming office on 29 May. The initial wave of appointments on 2 June encompassed the secretary to the government of the federation, chief of staff, and deputy chief of staff.
Subsequently, on 15 June, eight advisers were added to the team, including Dele Alake as special adviser on special duties, communications, and strategy, and Wale Edun as special adviser on monetary policies. Later, on 19 June, a set of notable figures, including the national security adviser, service chiefs, and the inspector general of police, were appointed.
Notably, last Friday saw the establishment of a committee on tax reforms led by Taiwo Oyedele, the Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC).
