The State Police Command confiscated a cow purportedly prepped for the Cultism Day ceremony in Osun.
News About Nigeria understands that the cow was confiscated by members of the Police Command’s anti-cultism squad .
According to a police source who requested anonymity, the members of the force seized the cow on Friday in the Egbatedo area of Osogbo.
In a statement, the Commissioner of Police, Patrick Kehinde Longe, warned against the celebration through the Command’s spokesman, Yemisi Opalola.
While warning against the celebration, the Police Command intimated that it had genuine data that certain cult members were already in the state from other adjacent states solely for the event.
It also advised restaurant owners, recreation facility owners, and hoteliers not to harbour these cultists since anyone detected would be prosecuted.
Yemisi Opalola, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), verified the development.
Opalola also promised state people that the Command will continue to work hard to keep the state safe.
She said:
“After intelligence revealed plans by a particular cult to celebrate the 7/7 festival, the CP ordered operatives to ensure that the plan by these cultists fail.
“The operatives, working in line with that directive, combed every part of the state and went to Egbatedo, a suburb of Osogbo. When the suspects saw them, they fled but the cow they planned to use for the celebration was seized.
“We want to assure people of the state that the command will continue to work hard to keep the state very safe.” she added.
