Italian champions Napoli are set to offer Victor Osimhen an improved long-term contract worth around €7m per season, News About Nigeria reports.

The deal will also include a release clause worth around €100-120m for the Nigerian whose 26 goals helped the Naples club win its first Scudetto title in over 30 years.

The Nigeria Super Eagles star who has caught the eye of several clubs across Europe is now edging close to signing a new contract with the Partenope side.

The 24-year-old appeared in 32 league matches for his club side and has since been the name on the lips of Napoli fans who have insisted that the club keep him a bit longer.

This decision has called off interests by English duo Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich who were formally gunning for the striker.

Meanwhile, reports emanating from Italy now show that Napoli is considering a wage increase for the untamed forward totaling € 7 million per season, roughly €135k pay cheque weekly.

This is a huge improvement from an initial € 4.5 million (about €87k weekly) in his former contract.

Napoli is also willing to keep the player till the summer of 2027, spanning across four seasons, until his official release on a free transfer.

However, this can be eroded by any club with a strong interest in the player. The implication is that such a club will have to offer in excess of €100million, which is the planned price tag for the West African player’s release clause.

Osimhen had initially indicated interest to move to the Premier League but the chances are now slim, following Napoli’s recent move.
