In a recent development, popular skit maker Abdullahi Maruff Adisa, widely known as Trinity Guy, has been remanded in prison by an Ibadan Magistrate Court in Oyo State, Nigeria.

News About Nigeria reports that the comedian stands accused of sexualizing a minor in one of his skits.

Following numerous complaints lodged against Trinity Guy, the Oyo State Police Command arraigned him in court on Monday, June 26.

The case has attracted significant attention from various groups, NGOs, and civil rights organizations.

During the court proceedings, Isiaka Ahmed, aged 40, and his wife Rofiat, aged 29, who are the parents of the victim, were also charged with conspiracy and sexual abuse/exploitation alongside the skit maker.

Magistrate P.O. Adetuyibi, while addressing the bail application, denied Trinity Guy’s request.

The magistrate cited the serious nature of the allegations and revealed that the case is currently under the purview of the state Ministry of Justice.

Consequently, Trinity Guy, Isiaka Ahmed, and Rofiat were remanded in the Agodi Correctional Facility in Ibadan.

The case has been scheduled for mention on July 11.

Trinity Guy had voluntarily reported to the Oyo State Police Command for questioning last week following the allegations made against him.

“He particularly emphasized that the consent of both parents was sought before uploading the skit on the internet. Consequent on the above, Isiaka Ahmed and his wife, Rofiat, both biological parents of the minor are presently being quizzed by the gender and juvenile related offences desk of the SCID alongside Trinity,” Police said on Friday.
