The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has called upon the Igbo community residing in Lagos State and other parts of Nigeria to participate in a sit-at-home order on May 30th, News About Nigeria reports.

This directive, issued by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful, aims to commemorate the struggles faced during the Biafra struggle and honor those who lost their lives.

In a statement released by IPOB, they emphasized the importance of unity and urged all Biafrans in Lagos and other regions of Nigeria to join in observing the sit-at-home order for that day.

The organization expressed its desire for Igbos and other residents in Biafra territory to prioritize their safety and avoid any potential risks to their lives or businesses.

The significance of May 30th lies in its connection to the Biafra struggle and the subsequent agitation that followed.

IPOB has declared a total lockdown of marketplaces, churches, schools, and all social gatherings on this day, seeking to create a powerful and symbolic statement.

The sit-at-home order serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by individuals who fought for the Biafran cause.

To further emphasize the importance of this day, IPOB has requested that Biafrans and other residents in Biafra territory partake in specific actions.

At 12 noon, participants are encouraged to engage in prayers with lighted candles and observe a three-minute moment of silence. These symbolic gestures are meant to unite the community in reflection, remembrance, and solidarity.

By adhering to the sit-at-home order, Igbos can demonstrate their commitment to preserving the memory of the Biafra struggle while safeguarding their own well-being.

May 30th will be a day of remembrance, unity, and solidarity for the Igbo community as they honor their history, commemorate their heroes, and strive for a brighter future.
