Three days after tending an apology to his teammates and fans of Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi returns to the training ground, News About Nigeria gathered.
The Argentinian forward joined his teammates during a training session at the club’s Camp des Loges training ground in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on Monday.
A post on the club’s official Twitter handle disclosed this; “Leo Messi returns to training Monday morning.”
Messi in the past six days has been in the news after the World Cup-winning captain was suspended for going on an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.
He came under attacks by his colleagues and supporters for being insensitive, traveling the day after Lorient heaped a 3-1 defeat on them.
He was also suspended by the Qatar-owned club after failing to turn up for training last Monday.
But Messi has long apologised in a video posted on his Instagram page, to teammates.
“I had organised this trip to Saudi Arabia having cancelled it previously. This time I couldn’t cancel it. I am sorry for what I did and I wait to see what the club decides to do,” the statement added in part.
With his return, the 35-year-old will likely be in action on Saturday, when PSG hosts relegation-threatened Ajaccio.
The Ligue 1 side stand better chances of defending their title this season, with a six-point lead over Lens, even though left with four matches until the end of the season.
Meanwhile, the rancour between Messi and the management of PSG is said to have made it increasingly unlikely that he will remain at PSG beyond this season, at the end of his contract.
