Footballer Kayode Olanrewaju Seeks ₦1 Billion In Damages From Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, Divorce from Wife

Nigerian football star Kayode Olanrewaju has filed a lawsuit seeking ₦1 billion in damages against controversial UK-based Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, alleging emotional trauma, financial loss, and loss of goodwill due to an adulterous affair with his wife, Dora Ezinne Kayode.

News About Nigeria reports that Olanrewaju is also asking the court for an official divorce from his wife.

The cross-petition, marked Suit Number PET/304/2024, was filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.

It includes several allegations involving infidelity, financial misconduct, and dramatic family fallout.

The case follows accusations that circulated on social media suggesting Kayode is not the biological father of the three children he shares with Dora.

Olanrewaju had previously threatened legal action over these claims.

The scandal has captivated the nation, with reports stating that Yetunde Burstline, an associate of controversial figures Daddy Freeze and Taste Bud, introduced Mrs. Kayode to Pastor Adegboyega.

According to the lawsuit, Pastor Adegboyega engaged in sexual affairs with Mrs. Kayode, who frequently attended orgies and left home for extended periods.

Olanrewaju’s cross-petition claims that since their marriage in 2013, Ezinne has repeatedly committed adultery, including an ongoing affair with Pastor Adegboyega.

The footballer alleged that his wife’s relationship with Adegboyega has been far from discreet, with the pair seen openly attending parties and sharing intimate moments in public.

The petition also details a pattern of financial manipulation by Ezinne.

Olanrewaju alleges that Dora diverted huge funds and rental proceeds from properties he purchased to sustain her extravagant lifestyle and her alleged relationship with Pastor Adegboyega.

The lawsuit accuses Dora of colluding with her alleged ex-lover, Ugochukwu Igboanugo, to misappropriate property documents.

Olanrewaju further claims that Ezinne’s abuse of alcohol and her life filled with late-night parties contributed to the deterioration of their marriage.

The footballer also accused his estranged wife of undermining their joint business ventures.

He stated that he incorporated DE-J-S Concept Ltd. intending it to be a vehicle for their investments, but alleged that Ezinne exploited this opportunity to syphon funds and benefit from the company’s assets, facilitated by her ties with Ugochukwu Igboanugo.

Olanrewaju’s cross-petition also mentions an earlier allegation that Dora abducted their three children and fled from home on March 24, 2024.

He said the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) tracked her down, leading to her arrest at a hideout in Abuja.

Dora allegedly jumped bail to evade further investigation and attempted to secure new passports for their children to relocate abroad.

The footballer cited emotional and financial tolls, trauma, and losses incurred due to the alleged infidelity and financial misconduct, including the abrupt termination of his international football contract, as reasons for seeking ₦1 billion in damages.

Olanrewaju is also seeking custody of their children, arguing that his estranged wife could not be a good role model.

He mentioned being shocked when he received a credit alert from his father-in-law in May 2024, indicating a refund of the bride price paid during their wedding.

Dora Ezinne later took to social media to declare herself traditionally free as her bride price was refunded.

Pastor Adegboyega and Dora Ezinne have yet to file any response to Kayode’s cross-petition.

The suit has been adjourned to September 24, 2024, for a hearing.
